Wanted to mention that Short-eared Owls are putting on a great show
at the west ninety parking area as you head out to Samish Island west of
Edison. Head west off of Bayview-Edison road and the parking area is at
the first ninety degree turn. We had two birds actively foraging and
tangling with harriers from 4-430pm on Friday, Nov. 5th. Earlier in the
day, we also had several flyover Lapland Longspurs, with Horned Larks.

Naturally, these and other species can be enjoyed AFTER fantastic
looks at the Eurasian Kestrel. Just look for the line of cars.

When we planned our week-long birding trip to Wash/Oregon a few
months ago, it was beyond imagination that three of our recorded species
would begin with "Eurasian"!!!
