I have been told that there has been a permit issued to shoot Western
Grebes at Bonneville Dam to control predation on salmon smolts. Does
anyone out there know if this is true and are the grebes feeding mainly
on smolts or are they feeding on the juvenile shad and other species in
the river. Have they been doing stomach content studies on the birds
killed and what is the scope of this project?
