Hi Tweets At last we got a day to look for the kestrel Arrived near
Bow About 2:30 pm Mon Nov 8. No line of cars or other birders so had
to look on our own. Found the bird on the second stop,west of
Chuckanut Drive and the intersection with Colony Rd . We were able to
watch it hunt for about 30 min. It is indeed a good looking bird.
About a half mile south we found about 20 Thayer's Gulls setting in a
field with them was the gull reported by Graig Roberts in Washington
Bird Box. It was setting with the Thayer's and appeared to br the same
size leges, bill, and eye color all seemed the same. The wing tips
looked the same also, but the body and tail were all white. It stood
out. I would guess it is a Thayer's that is pigment challenged.
On our return home today we found one Common Snipe in a small pond
near Royal Slope Grant Co.
