Between around 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., Steve Dang, Ed Deal, and I had several
sightings of the Clay-colored Sparrow at Montlake Fill. I first saw the bird
in the large cottonwood at the north end of "Dry Pond" a.k.a. "Shoveler Pond".
Later, Ed found it in some of the grasses and bushes in the pond itself (which
is basically dry). The bird seems to be repeatedly returning to that area,
rather than staying put. Three times it was seen flying away from the
immediate area.

When it was in the cottonwood it was foraging on the bark of the trunk and the
larger branches up to 20' high!

Also seen at the Fill were at least two Northern Shrike.
