Subject: WHOOPER SWANS STILL AT MAMIT LAKE, B.C. ON NOV. 10

Dear Birders,

The 3 WHOOPER SWANS (1 adult and 2 immatures) were still at Mamit
Lake, B.C., on Highway 97C between Merritt and Logan Lake, at 9 A.M.
this morning (as described below). This is the fourth day in a row
they have been seen there. A few observers have missed them in the
last couple of days, but that could be because the birds were in
hard-to-see locations on the east side of the lake, or because the
adult bird was sleeping at times. (It's hard to see the bill colour
when the bill is tucked into the feathers!) The Whoopers have not been
seen anywhere other than Mamit Lake, but it may be worth checking
Nicola Lake or Guichon Flats, on Highway 5A, if you cannot find them
on Mamit Lake.
I will be out of town and unable to provide updates from tomorrow
through Nov. 15. Would anyone seeing the birds from tomorrow onward
please phone the Vancouver RBA (604-737-3074) or send an E-mail
message to TWEETERS, so that your fellow birders may have a chance to
see the birds.
