This is the Vancouver, B.C. Bird Alert for Wednesday, November 10, 10:15
PM update.

Featured birds are RED-NECKED STINT and out of town, WHOOPER SWAN.

Sightings for Wednesday, November 10

The RED-NECKED STINT was observed with DUNLIN and 10 WESTERN SANDPIPERS
from the Iona Jetty. The best chance to locate this bird is on a rising or
falling tide. It should be looked for foraging on the north side of the
Iona Jetty and also along the Iona Beach area. It usually is in the
company of WESTERN SANDPIPERS and DUNLIN.

The 3 WHOOPER SWANS, 2 juveniles and an adult, are still being seen at the
south end of Mamit Lake. The birds are in the company of approx 80 to 90
other swans. They have not been seen on any other lake than Mamit, so with
patience they should be found. Mamit Lake is located along Highway 97C
between Merritt and Logan Lake.

Tuesday, November 9

The RED-NECKED STINT was relocated at Iona. Also from the end of the Jetty
a Jaeger of undetermined species was seen. Two late BARN SWALLOWS were
observed near the Horse Farm on Sea Island.

An immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK was reported from the Reifel Refuge. Also
reported from Reifel were 2 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWLS, and 3 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT HERONS. Birders are reminded that November is Snow Goose Festival
time at the Refuge. The Refuge is in need of volunteers to help man the
scopes and to help in other chores. If you can spare time over the
remaining weekends this month call the office or contact John Ireland at
the Refuge. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Monday, November 8

The 3 WHOOPER SWANS, 2 juveniles and an adult, were reported at the south
end of Mamit Lake.

Sunday, November 6

The RED-NECKED STINT was relocated in Iona Bay about a 1/4 the way out the
Jetty. It was with a mixed flock of WESTERN SANDPIPERS and DUNLIN.

Three WHOOPER SWANS, were discovered with a flock of Swans at the south end
of Mamit Lake. This is a known staging area for migrating swans.

The EURASIAN KESTREL was again reported from it's Chuckanut Drive location
in Washington State just north of the village of Bow.

The LONG-BILLED CURLEW was seen at Blackie Spit.

From Beach Grove in Tsawwassen came the observation of 100+ BRANT.

A gray phase GYRFALCON was sighted in South Abbotsford near the
intersection of Wellslink & Power House Rds.

Saturday, November 7

A CURLEW SANDPIPER was sighted at Victoria's Clover Point.

Friday, November 5

The EURASIAN KESTREL was reported from it's location on Chuckanut Drive in
Washington.

Thursday, November 4

A light morph ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was observed near 52nd and 38th in Delta.

A HORNED LARK was seen at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver.

Wednesday, November 3

The EURASIAN DOTTEREL was reported from Ocean Shores and the EURASIAN
KESTREL from Chuckanut Drive in Washington State.
