Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday November 11. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

On November 7 a MOUNTAIN PLOVER was found on the ocean beach about two
miles north of Flores Lake in Curry County.

Also on November 7 a CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR was found along the
four-wheeled drive foredune road about a half mile north of the FAA
station on the North Spit of Coos Bay. It was seen again the next day.

A GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE is now east of Pendleton at Mission. It has been
around for almost two weeks.

On November 9 a MANX SHEARWATER was well seen off Boiler Bay among a
flock of feeding birds. Heavy southward migrations are still being seen
off the beaches. On November 7 about 20 BULLER'S SHEARWATERS were off
Tierra Del Mar.

A SWAMP SPARROW was at D River in Lincoln City November 4.

TUNDRA SWANS and SNOW GEESE are now on Sauvie Island, along with large
numbers of CANADA GEESE. The swans are also being seen in the Forest
Grove area. A RED-NECKED GREBE has been at the Fernhill Wetlands most of
the week, and recently three RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were picked out of
the large merganser flocks there.

On November 5 a PACIFIC LOON and 7 WESTERN GREBES were on the Columbia
River near the Portland Airport. Two PACIFIC and 17 COMMON LOONS, a
RED-NECKED GREBE, 72 WESTERN GREBES, and a HORNED and an EARED GREBE were
on Timothy Lake November 9. 40 WESTERN GREBES and a PACIFIC LOON were on
Detroit Res. November 7.

A late OSPREY was over Albany November 4. A PRAIRIE FALCON was at Finley
NWR November 6. A SWAMP SPARROW was with a sparrow swarm along Royal
Avenue on the east side of Fern Ridge Res. November 6. A late
YELLOWTHROAT was along nearby Amazon Creek the next day.

120 WESTERN GREBES, 2 SURF SCOTERS, a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, a
CANVASBACK, and 4 REDHEADS were at Hood River during the week.

On November 6 a female REDSTART was near Joseph at the north end of
Wallowa Lake. The next day a REDPOLL visited a Joseph feeder.

Three WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS have been on the Burns Sewage Ponds since
November 8.

Thats it for this weeek.
