My husband and I drove to Skagit to see the EURASIAN KESTREL Wednesday morning getting there about 10 AM. We viewed it around the Karma Japanese Gardens for over an hour and a half and I was able to photograph it quit close. They say in order to find a rare bird look for the birders. Becareful though.... a couple from California came looking for it and they were headed for us birders and drove right past the kestrel!!! They did eventurally get good looks though.

We also drove to Mamette Lake for the Whooper Swans and searched from 3 PM till 4:30 but never saw them. There were only about 50 swans not the 80 being reported. We checked each one over and over again but no luck. This is the third time we have searched for this species. A nemis bird now. We drove through a snowstorm in the evening as we headed home.
