Lydia's hunch was correct. Matt Knox replied that the managers at GRNRA are
trying to preserve recent plantings from the voracious geese. This is
temporary, and will cease as soon as the plantings are covered by water.
The water is rising fast. They are firing blanks in a pyrotechnic effort to
chase away the geese. They explain that they are trying to keep this to a
minimum.
