update.

Featured birds are RED-NECKED STINT and out of town, WHOOPER SWAN.

Sightings for Friday, November 12
The 3 WHOOPER SWANS were again reported from Mamit Lake located along
Highway 97C between Merritt and Logan Lake. The swan numbers are reported
to have dropped to 27.

The RED-NECKED STINT again spent most of the day in the NE pond at Iona,
affording very good viewing opportunities. Also seen at the ponds were a
HORNED LARK and a late YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER.

A female REDHEAD was seen at Stanley Park's Lost Lagoon.

Thursday, November 11
The RED-NECKED STINT was observed in the NE pond at Iona for most of the
day. Apart from the ponds the bird can be found on a rising or falling
tide at the base of the Jetty or along its north side. It usually is in
the company of WESTERN SANDPIPERS and DUNLIN. Two late CLIFF SWALLOWS were
seen over the Sea Island / Iona Causeway.

The 3 WHOOPER SWANS, were present at the south end of Mamit Lake.

A GREAT HORNED OWL was reported from the 600 block of Holmbury in West
Vancouver.

Wednesday, November 10
The RED-NECKED STINT was observed with DUNLIN and 10 WESTERN SANDPIPERS
from the Iona Jetty.

The WHOOPER SWANS were seen at the south end of Mamit Lake.

A RED KNOT and 2 MARBLED GODWITS were sighted from the Boundary Bay dikes
between 104th and 112th.

Tuesday, November 9
The RED-NECKED STINT was relocated at Iona. Also from the end of the Jetty
a Jaeger of undetermined species was seen. Two late BARN SWALLOWS were
observed near the Horse Farm on Sea Island.

An immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK was reported from the Reifel Refuge. Also
reported from Reifel were 2 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWLS, and 3 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT HERONS. Birders are reminded that November is Snow Goose Festival
time at the Refuge. The Refuge is in need of volunteers to help man the
scopes and to help in other chores. If you can spare time over the
remaining weekends this month call the office or contact John Ireland at
the Refuge. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Monday, November 8
The 3 WHOOPER SWANS, were reported from Mamit Lake.

Sunday, November 6
The RED-NECKED STINT was relocated in Iona Bay about a 1/4 the way out the
Jetty. It was with a mixed flock of WESTERN SANDPIPERS and DUNLIN.

Three WHOOPER SWANS, were discovered with a flock of Swans at the south end
of Mamit Lake. This is a known staging area for migrating swans.

The EURASIAN KESTREL was reported from it's Chuckanut Drive location in
Washington State just north of the village of Bow.

The LONG-BILLED CURLEW was seen at Blackie Spit.

From Beach Grove in Tsawwassen came the sighting of 100+ BRANT.

A gray phase GYRFALCON was sighted in South Abbotsford near the
intersection of Wellslink & Power House Rds.
