I just got back from Phoenix today. Most of my time was at a conference,
but yesterday afternoon we went out to Boyce Thompson Arboretum (east of
Phoenix, near Superior). Unbeknownst to me a RUFOUS-BACKED ROBIN was also
visiting, a lifer for me.
In and under the same fruiting exotic tree were also a female ROSE-BREASTED
GROSBEAK (unusual for Arizona), several RED-NAPED SAPSUCKERS, many
CARDINALS, NORTHERN FLICKERS, SOLITARY VIREO, ABERT'S TOWHEE, CURVE-BILLED
THRASHERS, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, and on the cliffs above was a CANYON
WREN.
Quite a shock to be back in the fog today.
