hello tweets.

i have been on a birding hiatus because i have been writing a
grant proposal for the past month and a half. now that i finally
have a free weekend to myself, it appears that all the good
birds are GONE, as usual!

the last time this happened to me was when the ross's gull was
being seen in montata, or idaho, or where ever -- i swear, my
life list of birds that i MISSED cuz of teaching or grant-writing
responsibilities is FAR more impressive than my life list of birds
seen!

all whining aside, can anyone please please please tell me when the
eurasian dotterel ("eurodot") and the eurasian kestrel were last seen?

is anyone driving up to iona to see the red-necked stint? if so,
can i hitch a ride with you?

one of my colleagues saw the clay-colored sparrow at 10am on sunday
at the montlake fill, just where everyone else has been seeing it.
my colleague told me that the bird was really obvious, but was all
alone. he alsomentioned that the montlake fill was rather quiet
that day. (of course, if i had been with him, i could have shown him
FAR MORE birds, sigh.)
