Last year at this time we had Goldfinch, House Finch, Pine Siskin, Song
Sparrow.
and as always.......California Quail.

This year all we have is House Sparrows and a occasional House Finch ......opps
how could I forget the fifty or so California Quail.

In one of the birding magazines it was suggested that feeding 'just' sunflower
seed would keep the house sparrows away. Wrong......we have tried it. The HOSP
shell them quicker then a blink, and the CAQU appear to be eating the shell and
all. These two species have taken over our yard.
