My feeders go up on October 15 and down on June 1. I feed only black oil
and suet blocks. I am having average to slightly above average numbers with
BC and CB CHICKADEES, FOX SPARROW, DE JUNCO, STELLERS JAYS, RB NUTHATCHES,
BUSHTITS, KINGLETS, PINE SISKINS, HOUSE and PURPLE FINCHES, FLICKERS and
PILEATED WOODPECKERS as regulars. Notably low in numbers are HAIRY and
DOWNY WOODPECKERS - but I always get them when the temps drop to freezing
for a day or two. I think the mild temps thus far have some of our friends
in a holding pattern on the lower slopes of the Western Cascades - let's see
what happens when the snow level pushes down.
