Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday November 18. If you have anything to add call

On November 16 a MOUNTAIN PLOVER was on the ocean beach at the Dunes
Overlook between Siltcoos and Tahkenitch Lakes in Douglas County. It was
seen again the next day. Take the trail from the overlook to the beach
then walk north. Last week a MOUNTAIN PLOVER was seen in Curry County.

A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was observed November 17 flying past the Boiler Bay
Viewpoint among a heavy loon movement, including large numbers of COMMON
and RED-THROATED LOONS. A BULLER'S SHEARWATER and four FULMARS were also
seen that day.

An adult gray phased GYRFALCON was observed November 14 in the Tulelake
NWR, just south of the Oregon border. Watch for it when in the Lower
Klamath area.

Two CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPURS were reported during the week near Cape
Blanco. A CATTLE EGRET was seen nearby, and three were near the town of
Sixes a bit farther south. Another CATTLE EGRET and a TROPICAL KINGBIRD
were at Pistol River November 13.

On November 13 a SNOW BUNTING was at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay. An
AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse November 14.
LAPLAND LONGSPURS are still being seen at the South Jetty of the Columbia
River and one was at the Necanicum River in Gearhart November 13. A
LESSER YELLOWLEGS was near Astoria November 14.

On November 13 a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER was in the River S Unit of the
Ridgefield NWR. Among the ducks on the beaverton Creek Wetlands November
13 were 10 CINNAMON TEAL. There are now two RED-NECKED GREBES at the
Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove. On November 15, 12 GREAT EGRETS and a
TRUMPETER SWAN were there. Four TRUMPETER SWANS were at Baskett Slough
NWR November 12. The RED-BREASTED GOOSE has returned to the Willamette
Valley again this year. This time it is being seen at Finley NWR.

A CATTLE EGRET was near Lebanon November 12. A late TURKEY VULTURE was at
Fern Ridge Res. November 14. A LESSER YELLOWLEGS was with the many
shorebirds there that day.

A TRUMPETER SWAN was at McNary Dam in Umatilla November 13. On November
14 over 700 CANVASBACK were on Wickiup Res. south of Bend. A
RED-THROATED, a PACIFIC, and 6 COMMON LOONS were off Moore Park in
Klamath Falls November 11. With them were a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER and a
late RED-NECKED GREBE.

A HARRIS'S SPARROW was in Fields November 15.
