Sightings for November 18
A female TUFTED DUCK was observed on the outer pond at Iona.
Ten BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were seen between 2nd & 3rd Beaches at Stanley
Park. Also in this location were 2 BLACK TURNSTONES.
A late YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was discovered at Maplewood Flats.
November 17
The RED-NECKED STINT was reported from the NE pond at Iona. From the Jetty
came the sighting of 3 SNOW BUNTINGS.
A COPPER'S HAWK was seen at Surrey's Tynehead Park.
The WHOOPER SWANS were reported from Mamit Lake which is located along
Highway 97C between Merritt and Logan Lake.
November 16
The RED-NECKED STINT was reported from the Iona ponds.
November 15
A COMMON GRACKLE was reported in the Victoria area. Call the Victoria
Alert at 250-592-3381 for further details.
An AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was seen near the Stone Bridge in Stanley Park.
A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was sighted in the back lane of the 3800 block of
Trinity St. in North Burnaby.
From Beach Grove Lagoon in Tsawwassen came the report of 234 BRANT, 6
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and a COOPER'S HAWK.
An EARED GREBE, 5 EURASIAN WIGEON and the LONG-BILLED CURLEW were seen
during a shoreline survey of the Necemecl River mouth and Blackie Spit.
On another shoreline survey in White Rock, 2 EARED GREBES were seen from
the Pier.
Sunday, November 14
The 3 WHOOPER SWANS, an adult and 2 juveniles, were reported from Mamit
Lake located.
The RED-NECKED STINT was reported at Iona on the NW Pond.
An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen at Horseshoe Bay.
A late YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was observed at Burnaby's Deer Lake Park.
From Colony Farm came the report of 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS and a NORTHERN
SHRIKE.
Another SHRIKE was reported from the Boundary Bay Regional Park.
A busy birding day at Reifel accounted for the following sightings: an
immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK, 2 BARN & 2 CLIFF SWALLOWS, a PILEATED
WOODPECKER, 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS, 1 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL and a
singing SWAMP SPARROW near the observation tower.
