While doing a bird survey in the Samammish Valley, off of 116th St., Redmond,
I saw several hundred canada geese feeding in the sod farm on the south side
of NE 124th Street. There was one small goose, asleep in the grass so
couldn't a good look at it. Additionally, there was what I believe to be an
immature Trumpeter Swan feeding with the flock. I walked along the Samammish
River trail from 116th, then walked inside the Benaroya property toward the
feeding flock. Using the scope, I could see the swan was grayish in color,
gray neck, the black from the bill extended through to the eye. The bill was
two-tone, but I couldn't pick up any color, except for light and dark
contrast. I wonder if this is the same swan seen at Marymoor Park several
weeks ago.
