This morning I found my first evidence of the redpoll irruption in North
Idaho. At the east end of Fernan Lake in Coeur d'Alene there was a flock of
about 25 Common Redpolls in the willows along the road. I have searched at
length the past few weeks and these are the first I have seen.

Also, predator birds are congregating on the Rathdrum Prairie. I am
consistently seeing Red-tailed Hawks, Rough-legged Hawks, American Kestrels
(2 or more of each species on each drive through the area) and a Northern
Shrike (along the Burligton Northern yards).
