Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Wednesday November 24. If you have anything to add
call Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

A female INDIGO BUNTING was found November 20 near Cape Blanco. It was
seen again the next day.

On November 18 a female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK visited a feeder in
Gladstone. It disappeared soon after.

The MOUNTAIN PLOVER continues to be seen on the open beach near the Dunes
Overlook between Siltcoos and Tahkenitch Lakes. Take the trail from the
Overlook to the beach.

A TROPICAL KINGBIRD was at Pistol River November 20. Two CATTLE EGRETS
were at the marsh in Myrtle Point October 22. Among the sparrow swarm at
Millicoma Marsh in Coos Bay November 21 were 8 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, a
CLAY-COLORED, and a SWAMP SPARROW. A late BARN SWALLOW was over the
Reedsport Sewage Ponds November 20.

On November 20 a WHIMBREL, two OLDSQUAWS, and three RED PHALAROPES were
at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay. An AVOCET was at Siletz Bay November
23. On November 21 two SNOW BUNTINGS, 7 HORNED LARKS, 2 LAPLAND
LONGSPURS, and a PARASITIC JAEGER were at the South Jetty of the Columbia
River. With very high tides this week and storm surges off the ocean, the
estuaries and lowland areas along the coast remain mostly flooded. An
excellent time to check things out.

On November 20 a flock of 9 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS was at Ridgefield NWR.
A few SANDHILL CRANES are still being seen there and on Sauvie Island. On
November 18 a ROSS'S GOOSE was found among the goose flocks off the
viewing platform along Reeder Road on the east side of the Island. On
November 24 a GLAUCOUS GULL was in Vancouver.

Large flocks of VARIED THRUSHES and JUNCOS are now gathering in the
Cascades. They may soon move into the lowlands. A BLACK PHOEBE was seen
November 21 near Klamath Falls.

COMMON REDPOLLS are now moving into eastern Washington with one noted
November 20 just across the river from The Dalles. On November 22 three
were in Oregon at Boardman.

Thats it for this week.
