Hi all,

An update on the Ivory Gull at Tagish Narrows, Yukon: The health of the
bird declined sharply after we found it in on Sunday 21 November. We
launched a rescue attempt today (Thursday), but sadly the bird had perished
from starvation last night. It will now be prepared as a specimen.

It is interesting to note that a first-winter Ivory Gull was photographed
at Atlin, BC on 15-22 November 1987 which established the second
record for British Columbia this century. Atlin is about 100 km due south
of Tagish Narrows. The Atlin Ivory Gull was also very close to starvation
when it appeared, but was fed and quickly returned to health.

Kind regards,
Cameron Eckert
