I have been waiting to see if someone else would be the bearer of these sad
tidings but since there have been no other postings, I have the unfortunate
news to report that the one of the finest field birders in the world was
killed in a bus accident while of a tour of Madagascar. She was in the
southwest portion of the country returning to Tulear, and the bus in which
she was riding turned over and hit a concrete culvert. She was asleep in
her
seat and apparently was fatally injured of impact. I am unsure of other
passengers injuries but don't think anyone else was seriously harmed. She
was one of my best friends, a wonderful person in every respect, and I am
sure that she has touched many others lives in her extensive travels. Her
husband is planning to have a memorial ceremony at some point for both
family
and friends and with his permission, perhaps details might be made available
in this forum.
