Today, the day after Thanksgiving, my niece and I went birding in Kent. We
didn't see any swans but we saw a NORTHERN SHRIKE on a bare tree near the
flooded fields north of Smith Dairy. Going north on Frager road, just after
it goes under the bridge, there is a pullout by the river. In the brush
there, we saw:
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET
BEWICK'S WREN
SAVANNAH SPARROW
CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE
BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE
SPOTTED TOWHEE
SONG SPARROW
FOX SPARROW
PURPLE FINCH
At the Ole Fishin' Hole, we saw:
GADWALL
AMERICAN WIDGEON
BUFFLEHEAD (galore)
HOOD MERGANSER
BONAPARTE'S GULL (pretty sure)
Also:
many many RED-TAILED HAWK
All this in 2 hours.
