Hi All

This last week I have had the opportunity to do a little birding along the tracks on both sides of
the Fraser River. The seasonal build-up of Bald Eagles is under way. The most I have seen so far is
50+ along the river between Hope and Rosedale (90 mi. east of Vancouver along Hwy 1). I am still
waiting to see the much larger numbers that usually appear In Harrison Bay.

Unfortunately I do not pass through these areas daily nor always in the daylight so the numbers may
change from day to day and I can miss this. One of my co-workers reported seeing at least 50 at
Harrison Bay a few days before I went through and only saw 8.

The highest reported numbers for the Harrison River (about 10 mi. long) vicinity is around 600. The
most I have been able to guesstimate from the cab of an engine is around 300 in the area of the bay.

It is quite a sight to see a Cedar tree filled with white heads and looking like it was decorated
for Christmas.

Good birding.
