In October I also saw a male wood duck in this area, from one of the
footpaths at the Arboretum.

Subject: Wood Duck?

Quick question for the regulars at the Montlake/520
area: Saturday late afternoon while driving eastbound
on 520 bridge, thought I saw a male wood duck on the
south side, in the area around the fountain. There
were of course lots of other water fowl. It was
drizzly, the car was going fast, and no visual aid
(scope or binocs)-- the viewing was too brief. But my
first impression/thought on seeing the green and white
on the head was "Wood Duck".

Could someone more familiar with ducks and that area
than I am, venture to comment on whether I'm way
offbase to think that's what I saw, or is it a good
possibility?

(and I'm still wondering about the kinglets, question
I asked in my last posting: do folks get them at
their feeders, and if so have you noticed if they
prefer a certain food?)

Thanks...
