Today Ruth Fischer and I walked the west trail on Bateman Island in
Richland WA. Our morning started off with a GREEN HERON which flushed from
the causeway and landed on the shore of Bateman. We had scope views for
quite awhile. We throughly enjoyed our long look at a rarely seen visitor
to our area.

We had the expected birds plus 1 Golden-crowned Sparrow along the rest of
the trail until the end of the island. At the end of the island we looked
for a Peregrine Falcon which Phil Bartley had seen earlier in the week.

There was no sign of the falcon but we did see a dark morph PARASITIC
JAEGER. This bird spent most of its time resting on the water but did
chase one gull and was rewarded with a regurgitated fish.

Not bad for a morning stroll before heading to work!
