I've seen a raven twice in Ballard in the last 5 years or so, the first time
at Shilshole/Golden Gardens Park. I was 100% sure of the ID, I was able to
walk right up to the bird, I was literally 2 to 3 feet away. I haven't been
that close to a raven since I visited the Tower of London. The 2nd time was
a year or so ago in my front yard. It was a quick look but I'm certain it
was a raven, in spite of the many guffaws I received from Tweeterdom.
I also remember a report not long ago of a raven at the Woodland Park Zoo,
as well of a report a year or so ago of a semi-tame raven that hung around
the zoo. For those of you that don't know the area, Ballard, Greenwood and
the zoo are close neighbors, so if there is a raven hanging around, I'm sure
all could be in its area.
