The story of the ravens playing tag reminded me of an event that happened in
early August at Lake Chelan. We know of an opsrey nest down lake from our
cabin, and had seen solitary osprey over the lake once and a while.
However, in the middle of the morning on a very sunny Sunday, we heard an
opsrey calling and calling and then another and another. Pretty soon there
were six osprey flying in from various directions and flying around together
in a loose circle, calling to each other. Eventually they found a thermal
and rose with it, and disappeared, as quickly as they had arrived. A
convention? Osprey play?
