Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday October 7. If you have anything to add call

A WEDGE-TAILED SHEARWATER was observed on the October 2 offshore boat
trip out of Depoe Bay. It was seen about 25 miles offshore.

On September 29 a kettle of 60 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS soared over the Bonney
Butte HawkWatch Station on Mt. Hood.

While checking the WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS at McKenzie Pass September 27,
a BLACKPOLL WARBLER was seen at the north end of Scott Lake. Anothe
BLACKPOLL and a SWAMP SPARROW were at Fields October 1. The LITTLE GULL
continues to be seen at Summer Lake.

A PALM WARBLER and a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW were at Pistol River September
30. Three PALM WARBLERS were a Cape Blanco October 2; one was at nearby
Flores Lake October 1; and another was on the North Spit of Coos Bay
October 2.

A SKUA, 4 POMARINE JAEGERS, a PARASITIC JAEGER, and 2 SHORT-TAILED
SHEARWATERS were seen off Boiler Bay September 30. Two SHORT-TAILED
SHEARWATERS and 7 POMARINE JAEGERS were seen on the October 2 offshore
trip.

A bright SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was along Fenk Road, west of Tillamook
October 5. Two were there the next day. A SCRUB-JAY was at Barview Jetty
Park at the mouth of Tillamook bay September 30. Good numbers of LAPLAND
LONGSPURS are now at the South Jetty of the Columbia River.

A bright male SURF SCOTER was on the Washougal Sewage Ponds October 6. A
SLATE-COLORED JUNCO was at a Washougal feeder October 5. SANDHILL CRANES
are common now at Ridgefield NWR and on Sauvie Island. Peak numbers
should occur there next week. A PACIFIC LOON was at Creekside Marsh in
Beaverton October 5.

WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS continue to be seen at McKenzie Pass, and on
October 2 two were at Waldo Lake at Willamette Pass. A GREAT GRAY OWL was
at McKenzie Pass September 28, and a BOREAL OWL answered taped calls at
Todd Lake, near Mt. Bachelor October 1.

A late OSPREY was at Maupin October 5. A RED-THROATED LOON was on Wickiup
Reservoir, south of Bend October 2.
