Around 5:00pm tonight I spotted a Rufous Hummingbird in our birch tree in
the back yard. A few minutes later my neighbor phoned to say the Hummer was
feeding at his feeder that he had forgotten to take down on his back porch.
We have not seen a Hummingbird around here since late August so this fellow
is very late. We still have quite a number of Canada Geese at the sanctuary
here and on Tuesday afternoon a flock of 8 Great Blue Herons passed over
head so low I could hear their wings.
