Subject: A Flicker In My Eaves?

Hi Tweeties,

There is certainly lots of bird activity this morning. Many squadrons of
geese flying overhead (Perhaps some cacklers), flocks of gulls, squabbles of
starlings, and Hitchcockian groups of crows all flying past my living room
window. And I've caught about three frustrating glimpses of what looked
like a FLICKER flying into the eaves under the roof of my apartment
building. It had a long bill, and a white patch on its rump, and feathers
that appeared to be striped. (The light is poor, so I can't tell if it has
reddish undertones) It was bigger than a starling or robin.

Would a Flicker make such an environment it's winter home? If not a
Flicker, then what?
