I believe the flickers are knocking on the siding of the buildings to evict
the succulent bugs to eat. We had one a day or two ago knocking at the metal
cover on a vent up the wall and often they go along side the chimney and
poke away. The earwigs etc.. probably hide there. That's my theory anyway.
