The original owner of this house built a deck out over the driveway, then
later glassed it in and used it as a greenhouse. The construction was
shoddy, and parts of it no longer exist due to reecent remodelling. This
morning I glanced out and noticed a NORTHERN FLICKER inside, looking out
one of the remaining plate glass windows. I opened the outside door and
waved a broom; all that accomplished was having him smash into the
windows and end up down in a dark corner. I later tried a long pole; put
it right underneath his feet and he actually balanced on in for a few
seconds. Finally nudged him across to the open door. During all this his
mate patiently waited on the edge of the roof next door. Hope to see them
both back on the suet feeders soon!
