I scouted the Montlake Fill today, hoping it would accommodate a two
acquaintances who have never been out birding but want to go sometime. It
was very quiet, managed to find 20 species, with glimpses of MARSH WREN and
AMERICAN PIPIT, a very nice male RING-NECKED PHEASANT, and a first for me at
this site, a female SURF SCOTER out on Lake Washington. I think I'll wait
until the Snow Geese come to Fir Island for my novices.
