Teresa and tweetsters: Speaking of Ruffed Grouse, a couple of days ago the
only close neighbor (in proximity) that we have came over to me as we drove
up and asked me to come and look at this bird that was on the ground
between our two houses, but closer to hers. She said it looked dead, but she
wasn't sure and it was quite large! As I walked over to look at it I could
see it was indeed dead and it was a RUFFED GROUSE...a RUFFED GROUSE?! I half
asked. What in the world was this doing here?

See we live in Edmonds and not in the section where one would expect to find
a grouse of any kind. I've been here thirteen years and never even heard one
never mind seen one! Apparantly, this poor bird flew into her window and
fell backwards about twenty feet towards our place. Other than a broken neck
it is unmarked and every feather is in place. While I was unable to get any
pictures I do have it in my freezer for mounting later!
