Tweeters,

Ken and Nick's postings about "red-shafted" & "yellow-shafted" NORTHERN
FLICKERS and their intergrades prompted me to check my records for
Eastern Washington just to see what they might reveal. This is what I
found:

Since February, 1994, I've recorded nine (9) "yellow-shafted" and eight
(8) "red-shafted" X "yellow-shafted" intergrades in Eastern Washington,
with the most recent being a "yellow-shafted" male last Saturday in the
Harrington Cemetery, Lincoln County.

Eleven (11) of those birds were seen between September 30 and November 4.
The other six (6) were seen on
January 2 & 10, February 12 & 15, March 23 and June 23.

What does it mean? I don't know. At this point I'm just collecting
data, not interpreting it.
