I went on a field trip with Seattle Audubon yesterday to Blaine and
thereabouts. I don't have time right now to share all the birds we saw but
wow it started with a bang! Got out of the car at Blaine waterfront park and
the first thing I see is a pair of WHITE PELICANS swimming in the water!
They flew away but came back after a bit, flying right over my head, and
landed back in the water right in front of me. After doing the Dance of Joy,
I also saw a flock of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, SURF and WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS,
a million and a half AMERICAN WIDGEONS, GREEN-WINGED TEALS and much more.
P.S. Anyone wanting more information on the dance of joy, just e-mail me (it
is a sight worth seeing....well, sort of).
Delirious with birding joy,
