Birders, We spent part of Sat Oct 16 exploring Grant Co WA.
Had to dodge lots of killers, but found a few good birds.
12 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS at Potholes Res State Park (Moses Lake)
6 BARN SWALLOWS at Potholes Reservoir Dam
3 female plumaged SURF SCOTERS at Lake Lenore mile post 81; (north of Soap
Lake)
15 BONAPARTE'S GULLS at Cooley City sewage ponds
1 MEW GULL also at sewage ponds.
1 N. SAW-WHET OWL at Summer Falls State Park (south of Cooley City)
The cute owl was on a day roost in a Russian Olive tree behind the rest
rooms.
It can probably be relocated.
A few AM PIPITS were at most lakes.
An impressive number of EARED GREBES were on Soap Lake. Over 1,000?
Zero Rough-legged Hawks. probably just missed them.
Good Birding,
