You probably saw a Hatching Year (young bird of the year)bird of unknown sex of
the White-crowned Sparrow. Probably the subspecies pugetensis in your area. So
far this year I have banded 224 HY U of pugetensis. The nesting subspecies in
western Washington. A little bit early for migrant gambelli.
