for Bill Smith:

The Eurasian Dotterel flew in at 8:45 am on 10/21 with 12 Killdeer.
The flock landed on the sandy tidal flat southwest of the
intersection of Jetty View Ave. and Marine View Dr. in Ocean Shores,
about 1/4 mi. west of the base of Damon Pt. Over the next hour,
several more Killdeer joined it. The birds are mostly hunched down
in depressions in the mud, roosting. The Dotterel was seen and
photographed by a number of birders today.

We left about 10:15 am, when the bird was still there. This area may
flood at high tide (currently late morning). This particular group
of Killdeer was not there late yesterday afternoon. The Dotterel may
well be associating with these Killdeer and could be anywhere that
Killdeer might like in the area.
