Subject: Ocean Shores Dotterel 10/22: good news; bad news

The good news, folks, is that the Dotterel materialized this morning at
9:45 am, to the joy of about 30 anxious people. It landed near some
Black-bellied Plovers farther west from where it was seen yesterday.
Initially it hunkered down by itself into a little depression in the muddy
sand, but later, when some birders drew nearer, it walked down to be among
the Black-bellies. This site is near the roost area where Tom Aversa saw
it on Wednesday. It can be seen distantly from near the water tank farther
west along Marine View Dr. from Jetty View Ave. (or closer, if you can get
out on the flats) :-)

The bad news, folks, is that 45 minutes later, the fog rolled in.
Right now, you'd need a bird dog to find the birds, and a seeing-eye dog
(plus a boat, as the tide is rising) to find your way to where the Dotterel
last was :-(
