Today I was surprised to see two male COMMON MERGANSERS along with one
female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER swimming close to the shore near the Bath
House Theater. I often see Common Mergansers on this Seattle lake in
winter but seldom see Red-breased Mergansers. Any long time Greenlake
birders who can address how often red-breasted mergansers are seen on the
lake? On the diving platforms near the theater were MEW,
GLAUCOUS-WINGED, HERRING, CALIFORNIA and RING-BILLED GULLS along with
DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS.
