Hi Tweets!

I know that I said that I would keep you all updated
on what I have been seeing, but that was before I
realized that life could be so hectic! Anyway, I had
a nice morning at Shoreview last Friday. Highlights
were a Merlin (my favorite!), Pine Siskins are
definately back (haven't seen them here since July) a
single Orange-crowned Warbler and Red Crossbills.
There was also a big movement of Townsends warblers
through the park on Friday, with well over 40 birds
seen despite the fog, and lots more singing in the
trees.

I got a call yesterday from Ray Pelley. He said that
he found a Loggerhead Shrike there yesterday.
Northern seems a lot more likely given the time of
year (comments on that anyone?), but his description
certainly sounded more like a Loggerhead. Anyway, a
Shrike of any sort would be a new bird for the park
list. I'll go down there later this morning and see
if it is still around.

Later,

Michael Dossett
