Hello Tweeters,
I will ad few comments to Patricks message.As Patrick already mention we
did not see the Dotterel. Even so we was few steps behind Berry Levine and
his friend looking at the bird, as we came to the spot we did not find the
bird.There was 6 Dunlin and few Black-bellied Plovers but no Dotterel.
There was 7 Birders on Ocean Shores looking for the EURASIAN DOTTEREL and
only two birders was lucky to see this bird.
We searched to dark when the tide was comming in to 4.30PM .We experienced
the most masses of Dunlin's i ever saw on Ocean Shores,there all came
flying in long groups from the east landing on the bare sandy beach on the
Game Range.You had no space left to walk further on the beach without
disturbing this birds.The most fascinating discovery was with all this
birds roosting there was two Adult Peregrine Falcon sitting few feet away
from each other on the driftwood among all this Shorebirds . The birds
din't get nervous because there sense know, this birds already eating there
prey and was to full to hunt. Earlier we also saw a Merlin trying to hunt
this birds.
Now mention The Sabins Gull on the Jetty. As we made a drive to the Jetty
since i mention it now it was so windy and misty on Ocean Shores yesterday
that you had to hold on to you scope. We figured we will see some rare
waterbirds be blowing in.Nothing rare than one Sabins Gull what was a first
for me.
Good luck to all the birders today to find the EURASIAN DOTTEREL what i
believe stayed so long because of the bad sturm what hit Washington,
