My family and I went to Ocean Shores today on a whim. We had hoped to find the Dotterel, but were not so lucky. I wish that I had Bill Smith's instructions before we went.

The best bird of the day was a Peregrine at the Game Range, near Damon Pt. Also, there were eight Rock Sandpipers on the north side of the Point Brown jetty.

Of interest, there were four Western Grebes on the sand north of the jetty. They appeared to be sick or injured as they just sat in the sand and would not enter the water. We approached within ten feet. One had an open wound/sore on the neck. I'm not sure why they were there or why the behavior, but maybe someone down that way can take a look tomorrow and help them?
