Yesterday while in the watershed doing work I heard 2 or 3 Long-billed
Curlews flying overhead above the trees, they were calling, I'm assuming
they were birds headed from eastern WA to the coast. Also of note was a
Steller's jay doing a warbling song, I've heard jays do some pretty weird
things but this baffled me and had to go seek out the culprit. As near as
I could describe it was it sounded closest to a warbling vireo song, but
*very* loud and much deeper throated than a vireo would typically be, in
the same voice tone as a Steller's but having the quality of a WAVI. Very
interesting!
