World of Adaptations , indeed! In New York City I have seen the sparrows
nest in the wire mesh "baskets" used to protect streetlights from getting
broken. The metal poles and the mesh protected the young from predators and
the parents ( I guess)could hit all the nightspots ,since the streetlight
provided a nice bit of warmth to the nest.
