Hello.....I pose a question for the population experts out there. I think it
is safe to say that the Barred Owl population is increasing at great rates in
Washington. How does it's current population (what is known of it) compare
to that of the Great Horned Owl. I'm aware the latter uses a greater variety
of habitat, however I'm interested in overall numbers. Could there be more
Barred Owls in the Cascade Mountain Range than G.H.O's or are they just more
vocal? And finally, concerning the populations of Western Screech Owls in
the Puget Sound Region-I find them to be abundant and one of the most
plentiful raptors in the Puget Sound region. I would like to hear agreed or
disagreed responses, please. Have a nice day, everybody!! Bryan Mathews,
