On August 29th, Stuart Johnston, Dan Lichtenwald and I saw at least 3
White-winged Crossbills in a remote part of Klickitat County (elevation
approximately 4000'). There may have been more as we would see 2 or 3 at at
a time, they would fly off, and then we would see 2 or 3 more, coming from a
different direction. They may have been circling ( in big circles) or there
may have been more than 3. There were at least 2 mature males, and whether
there was one immature male or female is uncertain.

They were about 10 miles west of Saitus Pass near a logging spur off Simcoe
Mountain Road.

Inaddition, we connected with a Northern Pygmy Owl while using it's call to
call in or arouse the Crossbills.
