a bit late as i have been away. some years ago i cut down my bird
records and only listed WA birds for the first sighting each year. in
the past 15 years 3 sightings of golden eagles were east of the
mountains, 12 west. since most of my birding is west, this is not a
valid statistic, but indicates that golden eagles are far from rare in
