I checked the Vancouver Lake Lowlands on Saturday, 9/11/99 and found few
birds other than a CLARK'S GREBE at the Flushing Channel and 16 TURKEY
VULTURES in a wheat field.
On Sunday, 9/12/99 I found a ROCK WREN on a hillside just above the
Steigerwald Lake Refuge near Washougal. The bird was on a pile of rock
and dirt that had been excavated during a house construction in an
oak/fir woodland with no other rock formations for several miles.
